Church of St. Martin Domanjševci / Domonkosfa

A small cemetery church is hidden at the western side of the Slovene-Hungarian village out of the Mala Krka on top of the hill behind the forest. The subsidiary church of first ST. Venceslav and then St. Martin is a single-naved pilgrim church with a western belfry and a semicircular apse. As it is indicated by the preserved base of the wall pillar, the single-naved area at the western side had a so-called noble gallery. This was the place where the aristocratic owners, separated from the ranks of guards, attended the worship service in the first decades of the 13th century. In the central European dimension, the southern portal is of great monumental significance due to the rich decoration made by stonemasons. The high-quality realization is especially visible in the design of the capitals imitating plant and animal motifs. The pediment shows an especially meaningful motif of a lion prefiguring the Lamb of God. The lion ̕ s tail with a royal lily at the end is a symbol. It refers to the founder̕ s loyalty towards the royal dynasty Arpadovič. The interior of the church is not outstanding. (Source: S.
